kick-off and laser materials meeting
on the occasion of the founding of the Zentrum für Lasermaterialien (ZLM)
taking place on
April 27th and 28th 2017
at the Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ) in Berlin.
As of March 1st 2017 Dr. Christian Kränkel will head the new Zentrum für Lasermaterialien - Kristalle (Center for Laser Materials - Crystals, ZLM-K) located at the Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ).
The initiating project funded by the BMBF (project supervised by VDI) will be in close collaboration with the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut für Höchstfrequenztechnik (FBH) in Berlin, where the Zentrum für Lasermaterialien - Halbleiter (Center for Laser Materials - Semiconductors, ZLM-H) will be installed.
The ZLM-K will be equipped to characterize and qualify laser crystals and other optical materials with respect to laser applications. Besides research on new materials, another important aspect of the ZLM will be the supply and qualification of optical materials as a service job for research groups and industrial users.
To promote the ZLM in the community and to solicit input for future activities of the ZLM, we will hold a two-day ZLM kick-off and laser materials meeting at the IKZ in Berlin on April 27th and 28th.
During this meeting we will introduce the ZLM and demonstrate its abilities. Renowned experts from research and industry will provide lectures on the state-of-the art of German laser research. Also, lab-tours are offered at the IKZ and the FBH and there will be enough time to discuss and exchange with the other participants.
