Topic:
“Engineering Functional Behaviour in Ferroelectric Interfaces“
Abstract:
This talk will briefly discuss the kinds of domain microstructures that spontaneously develop in oxide ferroelectrics with a particular emphasis on emergent conductivity seen at so-called “charged" domain walls. Opportunities for using conducting domain walls as both current conduits and devices (making 1D p-n junctions within domain walls, for example) will be discussed, as will the additional physics that can be generated when walls are artificially engineered to possess twist.
