Matthias Bickermann re-elected to the IGAFA Board of Directors

For a further period of three years Prof. Dr. Matthias Bickermann has been elected to the board of the Initiativgemeinschaft Außeruniversitärer Forschungseinrichtungen in Adlershof e. V. (IGAFA) on 23.09.2021. He is the deputy director and head of the Volume Crystals department at the Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ).

University professor Matthias Bickermann is a member of the board of the IGAFA since 2015. With immediate effect, he additionally will assume the function of treasurer, after the previous treasurer Prof. Norbert Esser did not stand for re-election.

 

About Matthias Bickermann

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Matthias Bickermann studied materials science at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany) and received his doctorate in 2002 on the preparation of SiC crystals for semiconductor applications. Subsequently, he worked on the fabrication and characterization of AlN crystals as substrates for UV optoelectronics. Since 2011, he is professor at the Institute of Chemistry at the Technical University of Berlin and deputy director and department head at the IKZ. His field of work includes novel oxide semiconductors, substrates for ferroelectric films, elementary and compound semiconductors, as well as optical, laser and piezoelectric single crystals.

 

About IGAFA

IGAFA is a scientific network of the Adlershof Technology Park. Founded in 1992, IGAFA is dedicated to cross-link German and international scientists from the universities, research institutes and companies in Adlershof. The non-university research institutes located in Adlershof joined forces with the aim of promoting inter-institutional scientific collaboration and expanding cooperation with universities and companies. The IGAFA was founded from this association in 1992.

The tasks of the IGAFA include the promotion of interdisciplinary cooperation, the dissemination of scientific content through publications and events, and the support of international guests in two meeting centers. In addition, IGAFA sees itself as an interface between research and the public interested in natural sciences.
