Anna Suzuki is a PhD student in the group of Ass. Prof. Masaki Tokurakawa at the University of Electro-Communications in Tokyo, Japan. Prof. Tokurakawa is in longstanding collaboration with Dr. Christian Kränkel at the Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ). As part of this collaboration, Anna Suzuki is currently a guest student in his group ‘Center for Laser Materials’ at IKZ since November 2021 for one year.

The ‘Advanced Lasers and Photon Sources’ (ALPS) is one of the most important Asian conferences in the field of solid-state lasers. The annual conference located at the Pacifico Hotel in Yokohama, Japan took place from 18th to 21st of April 2022. Anna Suzuki contributed with an online presentation on her latest results on the growth, spectroscopy and laser operation of the mixed sesquioxide crystal Tm3+:YScO3. This crystal was synthesized for the first time during the stay of Anna Suzuki at the IKZ and it is a very promising candidate for the generation of ultrafast laser pulses in the 2 µm spectral range.
