Promoting diversity and inclusion in science: IKZ embraces equal opportunity and an innovative work environment by signing the Diversity Charter

The Leibniz-Institut für Kristallzüchtung (IKZ) is actively committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment that offers all employees, regardless of their background, identity, or personal characteristics, equal opportunities to realize their full potential. By signing the Diversity Charter, IKZ aligns itself with the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy of the Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V., which aims to eliminate structural barriers and create a work environment that promotes innovation and equal opportunities.

As part of implementing the Diversity Charter, IKZ is dedicated to recognizing the diverse potentials within and outside the institute and promoting a culture of respect and appreciation to foster innovative and creative solutions. The diversity of employees - regarding age, ethnic origin, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, social background, or worldview - is considered a valuable resource that leads to greater innovation and productivity.

IKZ focuses on a respectful work climate that enhances its international reputation and benefits society. Both leaders and employees are involved in implementing the Charter, and personnel processes are adjusted accordingly to support and promote the diverse potentials. Progress in diversity will be communicated publicly on an annual basis. "We are convinced that lived diversity strengthens the institute while also having a positive impact on society. The diverse perspectives of our employees create valuable opportunities for scientific and technological success," emphasizes Prof. Dr. Thomas Schröder, Director of IKZ. With the support of the Diversity Charter, IKZ sends a clear message for greater diversity and inclusion, both within science and beyond. "Given the societal changes brought about by globalization, demographic shifts, and other developments, this is essential as diversity increasingly shapes the working world in Germany," the Director adds.
